Brazilian
Culture Month
Established in 2004, the Pharos Arts
Foundation presents the Brazilian Culture Month, a series of events
dedicated to the arts and culture of Brazil. These events, organised in
collaboration with the Brazilian Embassy in Cyprus, showcase aspects of
Brazilian culture through art, music, dance, films, books and lectures, and
they have become a very popular part of the Pharos Arts Foundation's annual
programme.
Events take place throughout the month of October at various Nicosia venues
including concerts with Brazilian musicians Arnaldo Cohen, Pablo Rossi and
Yamandu Costa, a film festival and exhibitions by contemporary Brazilian
artists who have included Anna Maria Maiolino, Antonio Manuel, Detanico and
Lain, Nicolás Robbio, José Patrício, Cao Guimarães and Rosângela Rennó.
Publications have followed the exhibitions of Angela Detanico and Rafael
Lain, Antonio Manuel and Anna Maria Maiolino. More details about these books
can be found under Publications on this website. A Brazilian book month and
Brazil in the Primary Schools are also part of the variety of activities
that promote awareness of Brazil in Cyprus.
