Razvan Popovici / viola
Razvan Popovici studied in Salzburg, Paris and Freiburg. He has appeared as
a soloist in the Théatre-dés-Champs-Elysées, the Cologne Philharmony and the
Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, and in prestigious venues throughout the world,
including the Wigmore Hall and the South Bank Centre in London, Atheneum in
Bucharest, Essen Philharmony and Prinzregententheater in Munich. As a member
of Ensemble Raro, Razvan Popovici regularly tours Europe, Japan and North
America and has released three CDs. Popovici has performed with the Berlin
Philharmonic Orchestra under Claudio Abbado, Lorin Maazel, Günter Wand,
Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Daniel Harding. He has been guest principal violist
with orchestras such as the Cologne Chamber Orchestra and the Munich Chamber
Orchestra, he recorded extensively for the radio and television and has
given master-classes all over Europe. He is founder and director of the
Chiemgauer Musikfrühlingin Traunstein, the SoNoRo Festival in Bucharest and
the chamber music series Pélerinages in Munich.
